My journey with yoga

Hi, I’m Sheetal.

Originally from India, I have been living in Berlin for more than seven years. My journey with yoga began when I was just 12 years old, when my father introduced me to Surya Namaskar. At the time, it was simply a practice for good health, energy, and better concentration in our studies. I never imagined that this simple practice would eventually become such an important part of my life.

As a teenager and later as a young adult, I continued practicing yoga through classes near my home. Yoga was initially a hobby and a way of connecting with friends. But in 2014, I was introduced to the path of Kriya Yoga and the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. Through Ananda Yoga, I discovered a much deeper dimension of yoga.

I began to experience yoga not simply as a physical practice, but as a way of becoming more aware of the energy within, calming the mind, and connecting more deeply with my inner self.

Wanting to understand and deepen my own practice, I completed my 200-hour Ananda Yoga Teacher Training at Ananda Sangha Pune in 2022.

During the training, something unexpected became clear to me: I love teaching.

The experience of sharing a practice with another person and seeing them become more present, peaceful, and connected gives me a deep sense of joy and fulfilment. Teaching yoga has become a natural extension of my own practice.

Today, I teach online group classes as well as personalised 1:1 sessions in Berlin. My classes combine yoga postures, relaxation, pranayama, and meditation, with an emphasis on experiencing yoga from within rather than simply performing the postures.

Yoga is a journey inward

For me, yoga is much more than flexibility or physical exercise. It is a practice that can help us become calmer, more aware, and more connected to ourselves.

My intention is to create a space where you can slow down, breathe, listen inward, and experience the deeper benefits of yoga and meditation—regardless of your age or previous experience.

I share the teachings of Ananda Yoga because they have brought so much meaning and joy into my own life. I hope to share that experience with others who feel inspired to explore yoga not only as a practice for the body, but as a path towards greater inner peace and self-awareness.

I would be happy to accompany you on that journey.
